NOTE: Captain Cook (also a Yorkshire Rose) sailed past the area in 1770 and he gave the name Moreton Bay. In 1824, John Oxley arrived with a group of convicts to set up a settlement. From 1842, Moreton Bay was opened up to free settlement, immigrants started to arrive and take over from the aborigines.
